Frequently Asked Question – Why Does it Cost Money to Get Started?
I have been writing a series of articles about some of the most frequently asked questions that network marketers get asked when speaking to a prospect about their business. I can think of no more commonly asked question than “why does it cost me money to get started?”
This question can be something that can trip up a network marketer who isn’t prepared for it but the truth is that you have nothing to hide or be ashamed of.
I once had a person say to me “I don’t know why I should have to pay money to join this business, I don’t have to pay any money to work at my job.” And right there in that statement is the answer. You have to spend a bit of money to get started in a home based business because it’s NOT a job. It’s actually nothing like a job. I find that a lot of people who say this to me aren’t even looking for a home based business they are looking for a home based job.
They want to work from home but they aren’t prepared to really run their own business. They just want to do something like data entry or do some sort of tech support job that they can do from their home. So while they might be at home they aren’t really looking for the type of freedom that a home based business really provides.
A business, any business takes money to get started in. As a network marketer you are really buying into a franchise of sorts. If you go out and buy a Burger King franchise you are the owner, you reap all the rewards but you are still supported by Burger King corporate and get the benefit of all their advertising, and marketing, and their whole support system that they have in place.
As a network marketer it is no different. It is YOUR business but you get the benefit of having customer support, marketing materials, websites, business tools and a whole bunch of other stuff already there for you to use. You don’t have to do anything but plug yourself into the system and you’re ready to start making money.
So to keep it simple… why do you have to pay to get started in a home based business? Because it is just that… a business! And a business is always more rewarding than a job at the end of the day.
