The Pros and Cons of Having a Home Business

Home businesses work well for some people and can be a catastrophe for others. This industry is only a good choice for people who treat it like a career. With that being said and done, there is a specific breed of people that should only apply. This type of person should be entrepreneurial and self disciplined enough to become their own boss.

If you are still reading this article, then maybe you have enough desire and may feel that you are a match with the two qualities above. If that is the case, then let’s discuss the pros and cons of having a successful home business:

Pros:

1- Time freedom

2- Financial freedom

3- No commuting

4- No boss (other than yourself)

5- No supervision (other than yourself)

6- No cap on your earning potential

7- More time to spend with loved ones

8- More time to spend doing what you love

9- Live a life by your design

10- Less stress due to feeling financially stable

Cons:

1- Requires a great deal of self discipline. If you are not good at working without a boss telling you what to do all day, this may not be for you.

2- Requires you to learn a new trade or career

3- Requires a lot of patience especially for those people who are used to getting paid for their time.

4- It costs money to get started

5- Sacrifices will have to be made by you in order to find the time to learn the ropes

6- You may end up crowding the others in your house hold who are not used to having you working at home

7- Your significant other as well as friends and family may not understand your entrepreneurialism or decision for a new way of life. If they really love you and trust you, then they will give you space to pursue your interests

8- It may cause you to spend less time on social activities since you will be required to build your business with your spare time

9- It may cause some jealousy in others that you know if you start making more money than they are used to

10- It may take you anywhere from 6 months to a full year to get your business up to full momentum. I don’t mean that it will take you a full year before you start making money. You can make money in your very first week. However, it may take you up to a full year to get your business running at a good momentum where it is bringing you in consistent income each week and month.
